Prop 1: Bond For Affordable Housing

We support the $11.25 billion Veterans and Affordable Housing Bond Act, because it puts real money behind building new homes. It funds roughly 40,000 multifamily rental units plus down-payment help for 40,000 homebuyers, alongside veteran housing, farmworker and student housing, and supportive housing for the state's unhoused population.

Prop 37: Downpayment assistance for new homes

Proposition 37 would establish a “middle-class” homebuyer downpayment assistance program, funded with up to $25 billion in revenue bonds. This assistance could only be used to purchase newly built homes or newly created housing units converted from nonresidential buildings, where the buyer is the first purchaser. The program is intended to be self-sustaining because participating homebuyers — not the state — would ultimately repay the bonds through their mortgage payments.

Prop 43: Supermajority vote for tax initatives

Proposition 43 on the November ballot would require that at least two-thirds of local voters approve any local initiative that would create, extend, or increase a special tax, starting on January 1, 2027. As communities across California are facing substantial challenges and uncertainties, this measure would make it harder for local voters to raise revenues to support local public services and give outsized power to a small share of voters. Approval of the measure would decrease the likelihood that local governments meet the needs of their residents and could increase hardship in some communities throughout the state.

Measure X: City of Sausalito

Measure X would revise Sausalito’s zoning rules for the I and W districts, including increasing height, building coverage, and floor-area limits; allowing certain additional land uses; and repealing the Marinship Specific Plan. It would also restore City Council authority to modify zoning outside the Downtown Historic District without another voter-approved measure.
